How to Clean and Store Your Glasses Safely

It is very important to clean and store your glasses correctly to reserve their effectiveness and avoid scratches and cracks. If you store and clean your glasses correctly, you can prolong their lifespan and prevent damage.

Cleaning your glasses safely.

Unfortunately, tissues and loose clothing is not the best way to clean your glasses as these fabrics often harbor dust and tiny dirt particles which can damage your glasses.

We recommend always having a small microfiber cloth on you at all times so that you can gently wipe down your glasses any time you need to. Lens cleaning wipes also work well and are effective in removing smudges and dirt.

you should start by rubbing a soft, micro-fibre cloth or a folded lens cleaning wipe gently over the surface to first remove coarse dirt particles.

Technique is also important and it is best to lightly dampen the microfiber cloth (preferably with a cleaning spray) before gently wiping down the lenses.

In terms of frames, these also need to be cleaned regularly and this is best done by using a solution of tepid water and a little pH-neutral cleaning liquid. Ensure that you are gentle and don’t forget to wipe down the nose pads!

Storing your glasses correctly.

Eyeglasses are very susceptible to breaking and it is vital to store them safely. It is always advisable to store them in a hard glasses case when you are not wearing them.

If you don’t have your glasses case with you, try and find a safe place for them and place them with the lenses in an upward position.

Extreme cold or hot temperatures should be avoided as this can warp the frames, affect the coating of the lenses, and result in tiny cracks.
